ELSA
Bar table
Elsa Grave was one of Modernism’s leading lyric poets. She lived and worked for the major part of her life in Halland. Elsa Grave was famous for her brutal, grotesque and humorous lyric poetry and was sometimes called a witch. It has been said that she was 50 years ahead of her time when it came to highlighting issues like the environment and motherhood. The bar table Elsa is a tribute to Elsa Grave and my admiration for her strength and power in person and lyric poetry. The bar table is designed with straight lines and raw materials where the naturally leading features like the graining of the ash-tree and the changes in the untreated aluminium get to take an unaffected and obvious place in the room.
CALLUNA VULGARIS
Dining (Indoors) & Café (Outdoors) tables
Calluna vulgaris is a dining table and stackable café tables which gets its inspiration from the changing colour of the seas of heather during the summer and winter period. Sand and heaths have existed in the south part of Halland since the early Iron-Age, 500 B.C. The Halland scenery of alternating gravel and mountain ridges with valleys and hollows are all habitats where heather thrives. The agricultural landscape of Halland has undergone especially large changes during the last 200 years where Halland has gone from being a landscape associated with open heaths to becoming a landscape mainly associated with forest and agricultural land. Today the heaths are almost gone and a piece of cultural history has slowly disappeared.
SAND & DOG ROSE
Coffee table
Sand & the Dog rose is a coffee table which gets its inspiration from wet sand and the vegetation of the beach, which constitutes a large part of Halland’s coastal landscape. The dog rose was earlier a natural element along the beaches and has in time been removed as it stops up the beach and forces out other vegetation. The long beaches of Halland are sensitive to beach erosion and the problems are already evident in places. The climate changes lead to rising sea levels, which causes erosion to increase and threaten buildings, roads and other infrastructure, but also areas with great nature values and beaches.
