Craft Punk
Manifest
Kajsa Willner breathes new life into leftover wood fragments, transforming them into carefully sculpted objects. Each creation builds on the unique qualities of the reclaimed material, joined together with wood glue and screws before being painted in her studio. Through an intuitive craft-based process, Willner allows each piece of scrap wood to become a co-creator of the aesthetic expression, exploring the intersection between sculptural form and functional object. The concept was originally developed as part of the 2023 solo exhibition Crafted Potential, where Willner explored different methods and approaches for reintegrating waste materials back into furniture production. Since then, Willner has collaborated with Hope Sthlm, WonHundred (a Danish fashion brand), Vitra Showroom Oslo, Objectwithlove + Karimoku New Standard, AM Collective (formerly Salon Design Gallery), Misschiefs, Stockholm modern, and Movimento Gallery, MAD Brussels, Connie Husser and more with developing various collections and unique design objects in the free-spirited Craft Punk style – often expressed in a vibrant spectrum of colors.
Craft Punk is more than a visual expression – it is a method and philosophy rooted in caring for leftover materials and refining them through craftsmanship. It stands as a counterpoint to polished traditions reliant on virgin resources.
